Technology that helps your business work better.

Mi Wallet Limited builds software, websites and mobile applications for businesses and organisations in Malawi. We also provide business email, website hosting and secure servers so you can have the technology your business needs without having to build it yourself.

Need a system made specifically for your business? We can design, build, host and support it for you. We also offer ready-to-use business systems for retail, inventory and car hire.

What we do

Three kinds of work, and each one makes the other two better.

Our own products

Systems we have built, own and sell: OmniPOS for retail, with its inventory and RFID stock control; the Car Hire Management System; Mi Wallet Credit; and Mi Wallet Pay.

Software for others

Custom applications built to order for companies and development partners, from Android apps to district-level coordination systems. See our client work

Infrastructure

Web and domain hosting, business email, data hosting and virtual private servers, on Amazon Web Services infrastructure that we procure and configure ourselves. See our hosting

Building our own products taught us to run infrastructure properly. Running infrastructure means the software we deliver for clients does not sit on somebody else's shared hosting. And the client work keeps us working across industries rather than inside one.

Business software you can use today

These are systems we have built and operate ourselves. If one fits your business, you can start using it without commissioning a completely new system.

OmniPOS

Point of sale, inventory and tax filing for retail. A shop records what it buys in and what it sells, and from those two actions OmniPOS tells the owner what was spent, what was made on each item, and what is owed to the Malawi Revenue Authority in VAT. It then files the return directly through MRA's Electronic Invoicing System.

The till keeps trading when the internet drops and syncs when the connection returns. It is built for owners with no accounting background, and it runs on whatever device a shop already has, down to a basic smartphone.

Inventory management, from one shop to a whole warehouse

Most of a retailer's money is sitting on shelves and in storerooms. OmniPOS follows every item from the moment it is bought in to the moment it is sold, written off or corrected, so the owner always knows what the stock is worth, what is running low and what is close to expiry.

For large stores and warehouses we are building RFID stock control into OmniPOS. Stock carries a tag, staff read it with a handheld device instead of counting it by hand, and deliveries update the inventory as they are received.

  • Stock in, stock out

Every delivery and every sale moves the count, so the figure on screen matches the shelf.

  • Mistakes and losses kept apart

A correction undoes a wrong entry. A write-off records damaged or expired stock as a loss.

  • Counts in minutes, not days

With RFID, a whole aisle is read in one walk rather than counted item by item.

Car Hire Management System & Car Tracking

A complete system for running a car hire business: customer registration and licence checks, quotations, bookings, invoicing, payments and security deposits, vehicle release and return with photographic condition records, live vehicle tracking, servicing history, certificate expiry and a controlled store.

Everything to do with one hire sits on a single record, so nothing is chased between the front desk, the finance office and the gate.

Tracking technology to help you follow your vehicle's physical location.

Available on Android

Mi Wallet Pay

Our payment platform, and the project the company was founded on. It lets a person pay from their phone by scanning a QR code, by tapping the phone against a terminal using NFC, or by tapping a physical tag. Three methods, so that almost any customer can be served whatever handset they carry.

Software we build for others

Companies and development partners engage us directly to build systems to their requirements. Where we build to order, the client owns the result.

Flexstr8

Cold chain monitoring

An Android application that tracks the temperature of pharmaceutical products as they move between regions, so a break in the cold chain is visible during the journey rather than discovered on arrival.

GIZ

District Nutrition Coordination System

A coordination platform that brings nutrition programme reporting at district level into one system, so data can be collected, seen and acted on instead of assembled by hand.

AfriTicket

NFC fare payment for commuters

Contactless fare payment for public transport. Commuters tap instead of handling cash, boarding is faster, and every fare collected is on record.
